Darren and Shelley Turner welcome you to Tara Manor Historic Inn. The Turners bought Tara Manor in April 2014 and moved with their son John, and black Lab “Bear” from Oromocto, New Brunswick, where Darren continued to work as the Deputy Commanding Officer of 4ESR (Engineer Support Regiment). Shelley has worked in the customer service and finance industries for over twenty years, and most recently left her job with the Federal Government to become General Manager at Tara Manor Inn while living on site.

After many years moving with the Canadian Military in Eastern Ontario, the Turners vacationed in St Andrews By-The-Sea in September of 2013 and fell in love with the seaside town. Darren was born in the UK, and moved to the Eastern Townships in Quebec when he was a child. He has traveled extensively during his career with the Military, but one weekend in St. Andrews was all it took to set down roots for the family. Shelley was born and raised in New Glasgow Nova Scotia, so they both felt a calling back to the Sea. Being able to smell the Atlantic Ocean when you wake up in the morning has an incredibly calming effect!

Darren is an avid road cyclist, having competed in both the Gran Fondo Ottawa, and Gran Fondo, Prince Edward Island. Shelley’s interests lie in experimenting in the garden and kitchen, horseback riding, diet and nutrition, and most recently with curling and genealogy. Researching and preserving the history of the property is very important to the Turners, while at the same time, ensuring that our ecological footprint is reduced.

With family throughout the Maritimes and other parts of Canada and the U.S, the Turners are looking forward to spending more time with family and friends, and to becoming committed members of the local community.
